A ribbon cable has parallel conductors arranged in a flat strip. IDC connectors make electrical contact by displacing the conductor insulation. The configurator helps specify the cable and its terminations and prepare a specification for a quotation.
The configurator uses a 1.27 mm spacing between adjacent conductor centres. The illustrative connector has two contact rows on a 2.54 × 2.54 mm pitch. These dimensions describe different parts of the connection. Compatibility depends on the actual part number and documentation.
Length L is specified between the connector axes. Where no connector is selected, the reference is the cable end. Include the required tolerance or attach a dimensioned drawing. We will confirm the measurement reference and tolerances before production.
A and B identify the two cable ends. Same-side or opposite-side orientation describes the housings; the pinout defines the electrical connections. Include the required contact arrangement in your notes or drawing. For custom connectors, enter the manufacturer and full part numbers.
Provide the conductor count, length, terminations and quantity. The configurator shows a 28 AWG cable with PVC insulation. Use the form to describe other parameters, delivery needs and recurring quantities. Parts and feasibility will be confirmed after reviewing the specification.
